Ladakh is a large area located in the northern and eastern Kashmir region of northwestern Indian subcontinent. It is known for its dramatic landscapes and is often referred to as the world’s coldest desert. Ladakh is dotted with a number of colorful Gompas (Tibetan Buddhist monasteries), fluttering prayer flags, and whitewashed stupas.

Some popular tourist hotspots in Ladakh include Alchi and Nubra Valley. The people of Ladakh are friendly and welcoming to tourists and their culture is similar to that of the Tibetans.
